Outboard Skiff
Constructed with 3/8 inch plywood planking over sawn oak frames, this design
can be built to several different lengths, generally ranging from 12' to 18'.
The slight V-bottom hull cuts through the chop easily, and the flat run aft
allows the boat to plane well under moderate power. The 14'6'' design is
designed to handle a 10 to 40 HP outboard engine. The Outboard Skiff design can
make a great harbor cruiser, fishing boat, or runabout on the open water. The
high freeboard increases this boats stability and keeps her passengers dry.

This 14'6'' design has classic lines to match her
performance- she's laid out like a traditional launch, yet built like a sea
skiff --able to take it!
This Outboard Skiff is equally suited for use as a runabout
on island lakes and rivers, as she is for the rough choppy water. The engine
can be controlled with the tiller, as pictured, or remotely with side or
front mounted wheel steering.
Typically finished with a painted hull, the contrasting top
strake of varnished ply adds both strength and character to this design.
Some of the features of this design include side-mounted
wheel steering and engine controls, dry storage under the fore deck, and
plenty of seating for a crew of five adults.

NEW! After
numerous inquiries from people looking for a small runabout, that would
handle a 5-10 HP motor, we have finally unveiled the Catawba Eleven. A lot
of boat for eleven foot of length, the Catawba is easy to handle both in and
out of water. Light weight at around 130 to 170 lbs, depending on the
options selected, the Catawba Eleven has unlimited array of specifications
from which to choose. The deck and side decks, enclosed forward compartment
for storage, motor well, steering options, either tiller or wheel, seating
arrangements, and finish are just some of the options that can be suited to
your desires. This is definitely a design that is versatile, each one unique
to its owners specifications. Construction is marine grade mahogany plywood
over sawn frames, encapsulated in epoxy, with painted exterior and varnished
deck and interior, as shown above (other options are available).
